Right now one of the major cricketing events is being played in England and Wales which is the ICC Champions Trophy. However in the Caribbean the West Indies and Afghanistan battle each other in three T20 matches and three ODI matches. Starting of the series in St.Kitts with the first T20 match, at the toss Afghanistan won and selected to bat first.
Afghanistan started pretty confident getting 10 runs in the first over, however Samuel Badree will strike bowling Gulbadin Naib for 12 runs, claiming the first wicket. With the fall of their first wicket Afghanistan began to stumble one by one at the crease. Their was a major mix up in the middle with Usman Ghani and Asghar Stanikzai, where both players were at the striker’s end, Ghani was run out by captain Carlos Brathwaite. Tragedy will come in the same over with a caught and bowl for Kesrick Williams, claiming the wicket,of Asghar for 5 runs.
Playing some reckless and careless cricket Afghanistan will continue to lose wickets, by the fourteenth over Afghanistan was 58-8. At this point of the match I couldn’t see Afghanistan getting to 100 runs, I was totally wrong. The last 5 overs of Afghanistan ‘s innings went for 50 runs, with the brilliant batting of Rashid Khan who top score with 33 runs the team. Eventually, Afghanistan ended their innings 110 all out, with Sunil Narine(3-11) being the key wicket taker for the West Indies.
West Indies opening pair of Evin Lewis and Chadwick Walton started off the run chase in style, getting 33 runs from the first four overs. Chadwick will depart on 22 runs with getting 5 4s. Arriving at the crease next was Marlon Samuels who continued to flourish the West Indies getting the top score of 35 runs. West Indies continued to cruise as they will get the victory in 16.3 overs, ending on 114-4.
The West Indies lead the three match series 1-0 with the next match being June 3rd.
