WI VS IND Series – 4th ODI

To keep their series alive the West Indies needed to ensure that they got a win from this match. On winning the toss the Windies decided to have a bat first. Openers Kyle Hope and Evin Lewis got off to a pretty good start, getting to 57 runs before the fall of the first wicket. Kyle Hope misjudged a shot resulting in him being caught by Umesh Yadav, dismissed on 35 runs. Continuing on were Lewis and Shai Hope who played some wonderful shots to keep the scorecard ticking.

With the introduction of Kuldeep Yadav to the bowling, destruction came for the Windies.Yadav claimed the wickets of Evin Lewis and Roston Chase, West Indies 3-121. From this point forward the batting ship started to sink. With tight bowling from the Indians and tremendous fielding, they managed to keep them under 200 runs. After 50 overs, the Windies final total was 189-9.  Leading the bowling attack for the Indians were Umesh Yadav, Hardrik Pandya who both claimed 3 wickets each and Kuldeep Yadav who got 2 wickets.

With the combination of Jason Holder and Alzarri Joseph, they claimed 3 early wickets, India batting 3-47. Rahane and MS Dhoni got the Indians back on track, getting a solid partnership going. Rahane eventually departed on 60 runs inclusive of 7 4s. Dhoni’s innings was very slow, crawling to his 50 from 108 balls, not the typical Dhoni. Batting at 159-6, the Indians ship started to sink rapidly as wickets were coming for the Windies, also some incredible fielding, not allowing the Indians to score. The final four wickets fell in the space of 5 runs, India all out for 178, West Indies winning by 11 runs.

After putting up a low score, the Windies bowlers really displayed some remarkable bowling. Got to give major credit to captain Jason Holder who claimed a ODI 5 wicket haul, 5-27 (9.4 overs). Ashley Nurse and Kesrick Williams also were incredible with the ball as they kept the Indians run chase tight, both ended with figures of 1-29 from their 10 overs.

Although their is room for improvement in the batting department, I am extremely proud of my guys getting this win. Series now moves to Jamaica for the final.ODI.
