Blogmas 2017 – Day 5

They are various symbols around this time of year, but do you really understand what they mean? Today for day five of blogmas, I decided to highlight three of the more popular symbols around Christmas time.

Christmas Star

This is the star that told of Jesus Christ birth and the star that the three wise men followed.]

Matthew 2:9-11:”Having listened to what the king had to say, they set out. And suddenly the star they had seen rising went forward and halted over the place where the child was.The sight of the star filled them with delight,”

Evergreen Tree

This represents eternal life.

Titus 1:1-2: “From Paul, servant of God, an apostle of Jesus Christ to bring those whom God has chosen to faith and to the knowledge of the truth that leads to true religion, and to give them the hope of the eternal life that was promised so long ago by God.”

Gifts

The three wise men followed the bright star in the night sky and brought gifts for the Saviour Jesus Christ, gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

Matthew 2:1: “After Jesus had been born at Bethlehem in Judaea during the reign of King Herod, suddenly some wise men came to Jerusalem from the east”

Matthew 2:11: “and going into the house they saw the child with his mother Mary, and falling to their knees they did him homage. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts of gold and frankincense and myrrh.”
